IZZY STRADLIN AND THE JU JU HOUNDS TO BEGIN A MUCH-ANTICIPATED STATESIDE LEG OF THEIR WORLDWIDE TOUR
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- The premier world tour of Geffen recording group Izzy Stradlin and the Ju Ju Hounds, which launched last September in Europe, Japan and Australia, is set to begin a U.S. leg in early February.
The band's debut, "Izzy Stradlin and the Ju Ju Hounds," released in mid-October, has been in the Billboard Top 200 since its release, earned a spot on Billboard's year-end Top 10 chart of New Artists, and is nearing gold. The first single, "Shuffle It All" was a Top 3 AOR hit. Out this week, the new track, "Somebody Knockin'" is the No. 3 most added at AOR radio. The band will be the featured guests on Rockline, Jan. 25.
Before the official start of the U.S. dates, the Ju Ju Hounds, in a one-time event, will open for Keith Richards, Jan. 21 at the Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. As a member of Guns N' Roses, Stradlin opened for the Stones at the four Rolling Stones-Guns N' Roses concerts in 1990, as well as appearing with them on a Pay Per View.
The Ju Ju Hounds have chosen to play large clubs and small theatres; it's a plan Stradlin has been formulating for some time. "On the road I always wanted to get out and see the people and places around town. I'm really looking forward to playing again." The band will begin the tour in the west at Iguanas in Tijuana.
Izzy Stradlin and the Ju Ju Hounds are: Stradlin, vocals, guitar, percussion. Stradlin is a founding member of Guns N' Roses, with "Mr. Brownstone," "Patience," "Pretty Tied Up," "14 Years" and "Dust N' Bones" among his song credits. Jimmy Ashhurst, bass, backing vocals. Ashhurst was a member of the critically acclaimed Los Angeles band Broken Homes. Rick Richards, guitar. Richards was lead guitarist for the Georgia Satellites. Charlie "Chalo" Quintana, drums, percussion. Quintana, is a former member of Los Angeles' own the Cruzados.
For the first three weeks of the tour, the opening slot will be filled by Geffen recording artist My Little Funhouse, the Irish rock band whose debut album "Standunder" was released late last year.
